Ideal Logic / Vogue L2 Fault. Testing a gas valve https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHJYGgqMyyk

Today’s video I’m going to try and go through, the common question that’s asked, L2 fault code ideal logic , also L2 fault code ideal vogue on this one. Sometimes it can also be the F2 fault as well. So in this video today, I’m going to try and go through as many of them faults as possible and show you how to sort them problems out or what to do to find out more about that problem. So yeah, let’s get into this video.

Number one, blocked or frozen condensate pipe. So these are in no particular order. I’m just giving you a list of all the different ones and then we’ll look at how we can resolve some of the issues with them. So if you go outside, if you have a look at your condensate pipe, sometimes you’ll have a black pipe like this outside and then you’ll have this little white pipe and these can freeze up if it’s in cold weather, these could freeze up. You may see that it’s insulated or if it’s not insulated, it may be that you want to insulate that. So you’d need to look in the installation instructions and just see what it says about that. But that’s a common issue is a blocked off frozen condensate pipe. Sometimes they also block under the sink as well, but it may be you need to get a gas engineer out just to check that. You don’t want to start pulling pipes and things off under the sink. So that’s number one, condensate.

The next on this list is no gas. So it could just be that you’ve got a gas token metre and it could be these greedy token metres now that it’s just run out of gas. And it may be that you just need to top the metre up. And if you did top the metre up, then you’d come back to the boiler and you’d just click on reset on the boiler and then the boiler would work again. And then if we’re a gas engineer, what we can do, we can check if we’ve got gas to the appliances. So I’m just going to tip the case off on this just to make it a little bit easier to do. And all I’m going to do, I’ve got a little tester for gas and I’m going to connect this onto gas valve underneath here. And what we’re going to do, we’re going to check this off, check our test, the standing pressure, and that’s just to make sure that we’ve actually got gas to this gas valve on here. So I’ll do that now. We’ll just get a screwdriver.

But we’ve got a gas valve under here. So all we’re going to do is just turn the gas valve off and then we’re just going to take the screw out on there. As I said, to do this, you must be gas safe registered, you must be competent to do so. So you’re just going to fully remove the screw. You need to be really careful that, make sure you don’t lose the screw. But we totally take the screw out like that and then what we’re going to do, we’re just going to connect our SP620 Digital Manometer onto here.

And then what we can do, you can just put this out where, or we can use magnet and we can just stick it on side at boiler and then we just turn the gas on underneath the boiler. As you can see here, I’ve connected my iPad on here just so we can see what the standing pressure is. So this is the pressure. We’ve nothing working at the moment. Normally, you’d use this on your phone and what I do is when I’m using it on my phone I would snapshot. So you can snapshot what the standing pressure is if you needed to know that. But for this, all we’re doing is we’re just checking that we’ve physically got gas to here. And then from that we would do over check, so we might do is working pressure or whatever that would be, but at the minute we’re looking for an L2 or an F2 fault.

So the next thing after this, what we would do, we would check and test the gas valve maybe. So Kevin from Ideal or ex-Ideal engineer has done a really detailed video on how to test gas files because there’s different gas files for different models of this boiler for the Ideal Logic and also the Ideal Vogue So what I’ll do with that is I’ll put a link below to how to test the gas valve because that’ll be a much more detailed video for you because obviously it’ll show you the different types of boiler. But as I said at the minute, this is just showing, we’ve physically got gas to the boiler.
