VIESSMANN COMBI BOILER REVIEW – Viessmann 200
Mike’s just gonna go through a Viessmann 200 with us. He’s just gonna do a review, strip it down, and show us the benefits of a Viessmann 200, also the advanced controls that come with this boiler.
Just remove the burner screws and electrical connections on the burner. Fan and gas valve assembly should pull straight out. Now we have the burner of a Vitodens 200, complete with the fan, and the gas valve, and the silencer. There we have the heat exchanger, Inox radial heat exchanger. It’s stainless steel grade 316, very high quality, excellent for a condensing boiler and condensing boiler applications. It’s self-cleaning on the outside of the coils, where it condenses. Obviously, inside needs to be cleaned out on servicing.
Because it runs at low temperatures, it condenses a massive amount, saving a customer money on his gas bill. Spoke to the customer who has already confirmed reduction in his gas bill, and we are about to wash it out. We’ve cleaned out in between the coils to make sure that it is clear.
This is the burner. I’m going to talk to you a little bit about the burner on a Viessmann 200, because the burner and how it works is very, very clever and very, very efficient. You can see it’s a stainless steel metrics burner, if you like. Very high quality stainless steel, which is common across the Viessmann range. It’s the normal electrodes from most boilers there, but it also has something called a Lambda sensor. The Lambda sensor is very special in respect to that it monitors the combustion at all times. I suppose it’s a bit like a car does, and it adjusts to the gas so that it’s burning perfectly at all times.
This is one of the reasons that makes the Viessmann 200 so special and so efficient. The actual fan itself and the gas valve, I believe it’s an EBM. I’m just having a look now. Now, It’s EBM on the Vitodens 100, on the 200. It’s an EBM fan. This silencer is just to enable the boiler to run quietly when it’s in full mode. We’ve cleaned the heat exchange route. Give it a good wash through with water. We’re gonna put the burner back in, and then do our final checks to recommission the boiler.
Okay, so I’m going to talk to you a little bit about the controller and advanced weather compensation. I’m gonna keep it really short. Essentially, the way weather compensation works is the colder it is outside, the hotter the radiators need to be on the inside. Now, obviously dependent on the property type and the insulation, you do need to set the boiler up for the property. Now, if you go into the menu button, which is this here, into heating, down on the bottom here is heating curve. Now, the heating curve currently is set to two, and if you zoom in there, it shows you the temperatures the radiators will be, depending on how hot or how cold it is outside. Now, that is quite a high curve.
The reasons I would choose a Vitodens 200, some of the reasons are the construction of the heat exchanger inside is outstanding, easily one of the best heat exchangers on the market. Its 316 stainless steel single pass heat exchanger, very, very good, very good for a condensing boiler. Also, the controls on the Vitodens 200 are amazing. It’s the only boiler that has advanced weather compensation control, which can be multiple zoned. However, probably more suited to a larger house, because it’s quite expensive once you add on the extra modules. Also, very good in commercial applications, so probably some of the best commercial boilers you can buy for larger factories, offices and what not.
Thank you very much for watching.

Thank you Mackey for that, and that’s for watching.
